Nepal enters the Final; defeats Singapore

Nepal entered the Final of ACC U-16 Elite Cup 2012 with a comprehensive win over Singapore by the margin of 101 runs.
Winning the toss, Nepal opted to bat first. Half centuries from Nurdhoj Sen and Jagadish Chand took the score to 240 runs from 40 overs at Bayuemas, Malaysia.
Opener Nurdhoj Sen scored 51 runs while Jagadish Chand 53 runs piled up mammoth 240 for the loss of 9 wickets. Similarly, Aadil Khan (21), Rupesh Bastola (21), Dipendra Chand (20), Alfaz Mansuri (18), Aashif Seikh (15) and Akash Bista (6) contributed to Nepal’s score.
Singapore had a brisk start during the chase but a good-spell of bowling from Nepali bowlers in the middle overs stopped the flow of runs & thus wickets started to tumble. Nepal bowled out Singapre for 139 runs in 36.5 overs. V.Seshadri top scored with 46 runs while A.Goenka managed 38 runs. For Nepal, Akash Bista took 3-24 and Man of the match Jagadish Chand took 3-28.
In the first edition of ACC U-16 Elite Cup 2010 held in Kathmandu, Nepal lost to Singapore by 68 runs in the final. Meanwhile, Malaysia defeated Oman by 36 runs in a low scoring match of another semi-final match played at Kinrara. Malaysia batted first and collapsed for 78 runs in 31.4 overs. In reply, Oman were bundled out for just 42 runs in 20.1 overs.
Nepal will face Malaysia in the final of ACC U-16 Elite Cup at Kinrara on Sunday. This will be the second consecutive appearance for Nepal in the final of this tournament.

Gauchan takes hat-trick as Nepal downs Denmark

Shakti Gauchan took a hat-trick as Nepal notched up his second successive victory in Group A of the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier UAE 2012 when it defeated Denmark by nine wickets in a one-sided contest at the ICC GCA Oval 1 on Wednesday.

Gauchan, a 27-year-old wrist spinner, returned figures of 4-0-20-4 as Denmark's decision to bat first after winning toss badly backfired after it was spun out for 82 in 19.2 overs. Besides Gauchan, Prithu Baskota took two for four.

A sparkling half-century by Nepal captain Paras Khadka turned out to be the cornerstone of his side's 30 runs victory against Hong Kong in a Group A match in the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier UAE 2012 at the ICC GCA, Oval 2, Dubai Sports City, on Tuesday.

Khadka clubbed seven fours in a 62-ball 68 as Nepal collected 130-6 after electing to bat first after winning the toss. In turn, Hong Kong was restricted to 100 for nine with only Nizakat Khan offering some kind of a resistance while scoring 31 that included three four and a six from 27 balls.

AFC Confirms Venues For The AFC President's Cup

The AFC Competitions Committee has confirmed Phnom Penh Crown (Cambodia), KRL Football Club (Pakistan) and FC Istiklol (Tajikistan) as the hosts for the Qualification Round of the 2012 AFC President's Cup.

- The winners of AFC Challenge Cup competitions 2012 and 2014 will qualify to the AFC Asian Cup 2015 finals.

- The host of the Final Tournament will be announced after the qualifying roung.
- East Timor and Guam didn't ente. Brunei is suspended an cannot take part of any international events.
- Each group winner and rtunners-up of the Qualifying round will qualify for the Final Round.

ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier Fixtures With Squads

ICC Associate and Affiliate Members from across the globe will have the opportunity to qualify for the ICC World Twenty20 2012 in Sri Lanka. Regional qualifying events will be held across the five regions to provide a qualifying pathway to the 16-team qualifier which will take place in early 2012 in the United Arab Emirates. The six Associate/Affiliate Members with ODI status - Afghanistan, Canada, Ireland, Kenya, Netherlands and Scotland - have automatically qualified for this event. Three teams from the Asia region, two teams from Africa, Americas and Europe, and one team from East Asia-Pacific will have the opportunity to qualify for the ICC World Twenty20 2012 global qualifier. Some ODI status Associate/Affiliate sides will take part in these qualifying events, along with emerging teams from ICC Full Members (e.g. South Africa and Zimbabwe). In such cases, the highest placed Associate and Affiliate sides from these events will progress to the global qualifier, based on the qualifying spots available, which are outlined above.

Nepal advances to ACC T20 semifinal


Nepal reached the semi-finals of ACC Twenty-20 Cricket Championship and also qualified for the World Twenty-20 World Cup qualifiers to be held in Sri Lanka in 2012 after Saudi Arabia was handed a 53-runs defeat by UAE.

The condition for Nepal to qualify was Saudi Arabia should win the game against UAE or UAE should defeat Saudi Arabia by 70 or more runs or be victorious, chasing inside the 13th over.

Mehboob drives Nepal home

Nepal on its last encounter in a most win match had won by 95 runs after they put a mammoth 183 runs against Saudia Arabia at TU Ground today.
Saudi Arabia invited Nepal to bat first today in the morning. Mehboob Alam scored 88 off 41 balls, 5 fours and 6 sixes. Change in batting order in today’s game seemed to be an advantage. Subash Khakurel, Opener Batsman didn’t last long, as he was caught by Mohammad Naseem off Khawar Sohail for 8 runs.
At No. 3 Mehboob Alam came to the crease, he and Anil solidated the inning. They put on 98 runs partnership for 3rd Wicket that set the tone of the Nepal’s inning.

Nepal advance to semis of SAFF Championship

Nepal's national football team entered the semifinals of the SAAF Championship with 1-1 draw with Pakistan in a match played at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi, India, Tuesday. Nepal led the match in the 36th minute of the first half through the splendid shot by Bharat Khawas. Pakistan levelled the score in the 3rd minute of the second half through the spot kick of Sammar Ishaq. Bharat Khawas, who led Nepal into the semis, was declared man of the match. In the previous matches, Nepal had defeated Bangladesh 1-0 while they played 1-1 draw against the Maldives.
With today’s draw, Nepal got 1 point accumulating 5 points in total while Pakistan have been eliminated from the tournament.
